On the Go Pilates Moves

Here is a set of pilates moves that one can use on the go, when time is of the essence and a workout cannot be sacrificed.

The Pelvic Curl: This is a great warm up exercise for the spine and the lower back. It works the lower body and coordinates movement with the breath.

The Spine Stretch: This is a beautiful forward stretch of the spine, done in the sitting position with your legs outstretched. It is a wonderful stretch for the hamstrings and the back.

The Hundred: This classic pilates number is on top of the list for building strength, endurance, and coordination between movement and breath. The core is fully engaged in this practice as is the breath.

Single Leg Stretch: When it comes to working the abs, the single leg stretch is number one. It works the muscles of the lower belly and flattens the entire abdominal area. This is an effective abdominal fat burner and can potentially give you the flat abs you would die for.

Swimming: As the name suggests, you are on your stomach, with your arms and legs outstretched, trying to break all that adipose down. You are literally working your butt off because it works the muscles around your sit bones, while toning the back and the hamstrings.

The Plank: The plank engages the abdominal muscles and the shoulders. However, the benefits are not limited to these parts of the body. The plank really gives you a miniature whole body workout. The best part about this exercise is that it can be changed to suit your body – especially if you are new to pilates or have physical challenges.

The Saw: This is a basic pilates move, done specifically as part of the mat routine, and can be approached by all levels of practitioners. It stretches the spine and the stretch can be maximized through the use of the breath and by spinal rotation as well.

These sample pilates moves could serve you well when time is short. They have been put together to give you and ideal workout that can give your body the exercise it needs in just minutes.
