You can’t beat workout dvds for convenience. Every fitness-minded woman needs her own fitness library for those days when you can’t get to the gym, or just don’t want to go. They’re also great for bad weather days when you’re tempted to skip your outdoor running workout because of rain or snow. Since there are literally thousands of choices for workout videos out there, I’ve narrowed it down to a few of the best. The following videos all have great reviews and are considered to be some of the top workout videos on the market.
Kelly Coffey’s 30 Minutes to Fitness: Cardio Blast
This is a great cardio workout video for intermediate to advanced level exercisers. You’ll get two separate workouts, both high impact. One workout uses a step. If you like plyometrics, you’ll love this athletic-style, easy to follow, yet tough workout. Plyometrics burns tons of calories, and builds athletic skills. Each workout is around 35 minutes long, so you won’t have any time-crunch excuses. If you are into sports, this is a great choice for you.
Prevention: 2 Week Total Body Turnaround
This is actually 2 separate dvds, “Two Week Turn Around Strength” and “Two Week Turn Around Cardio”. These videos, led by Chris Freytag are all you need for total body fitness. Two to 5 pound dumbbells are used in the strength training dvd, while the cardio dvd gets you moving with aerobic intervals. The aerobic portion is a modified walking workout. These dvds are best for intermediate exercisers. If you are ready to see some big changes, try these two videos on for size.
Cathe Friedrich’s MMA Boxing
This is an exciting workout video that’ll boost more than your fitness level. You’ll love the feeling of power that you get with this boxing mma workout. Lots of fun jabs and punches as well as boxing footwork will make this dvd fly by as you learn tons of mma boxing moves. You’ll need 5 lb. weights or weighted gloves for this 50 minute workout.
Mari Winsor Pilates
Thinking about trying pilates? This is a classic pilates workout, perfect for the beginner. You’ll learn all the basic pilates exercises from one of the best instructors out there, Mari Winsor herself. There are two different workouts on this dvd, one shorter, 23 minute version, and a longer, 50 minute workout. The longer workout is more advanced. This is a great choice for anyone who is new to pilates.
