Getting back into shape after having a baby can be difficult. Luckily, there are many exercises that can be done using a jogging stroller to involve your child in the process of staying fit. With your baby coming along with you, you can easily get back into shape and stay fit.

The Benefits

There are numerous benefits available when using a stroller to get fit. One benefit is you can quickly begin exercising after giving birth. You are also able to exercise with your baby. Using a stroller to get fit allows your baby to experience the outdoors and get fresh air. Walking with a stroller allows the muscles of the mid back to get back into shape after birth. Many other areas of the body can also benefit from exercising with a stroller.

Stroller Lunges

Lunges are a great exercise to do with a jogging stroller. For this exercise, use the stroller for support. Then, using your left leg first, take a large step forward. Keep your back straight while doing this and tighten the abdominal muscles. Repeat this exercise with the other leg and continue the process for as many times as you feel comfortable.

Stroller Squats

Stroller squats are another exercise that can be done using a stroller. Again, you will want to use the stroller for support while doing the squats. With your legs shoulder-length apart, bend to a squatting position keeping your back straight. This can be repeated as many times as you like.

Fitness Routine

You can develop your own fitness routines to stay fit using a stroller. You can alternate your fitness routines between working the leg muscles or the arm muscles. Even without a set routine, simply walking daily while pushing a stroller is a great opportunity to stay in shape. Many towns offer stroller classes to stay fit with your baby.

Preparation

Before beginning any fitness routine after child birth, it is important to be cleared by a doctor first. Although in most cases, light exercise is alright to participate in, some may take longer to heal, especially after a c-section. Discuss your plans about exercising with your doctor before beginning to eliminate the chance of causing serious injury to your self.

Safety Tips

Although almost any stroller can be used for these exercises, if you plan on jogging with your baby, it is best to have a jogging stroller. Never do any exercises using an umbrella stroller. Do not roller blade while using a stroller with your child in tow.
