Beyonce admits that weight loss is difficult, and prefers her curvier body to the body she had to sport for Dreamgirls, which was 20 pounds lighter than she was used to. Beyonce even admits that she missed having pizza during that time, and how she felt like less of a woman without her curves. She tells SELF in its July 2009 issue regarding the Beyonce workout: “I’m not one of those people who doesn’t have to work at it. I can’t eat what I want, and I can’t not go to the gym … There are no quick, easy secrets. The truth is, it’s a lot of sacrifice. It’s more about your mental strength than your physical strength.” So you want to know: How does Beyonce stay thin? Rule No. 1 for a bootylicious weight loss plan is to aim for a comfortable body type and not to underestimate the power of the mind.

The Food

The Beyonce weight loss plan involves eating lots of vegetables and drinking a lot of water, the singer reveals In an April 2009 issue of the United Kingdom version of Cosmopolitan. She admits to going through various food phases, and these days it’s bran for breakfast, a salad in the mid-day and a fish entree in the evening. When she snacks, she chooses fruit. She admits that she splurges on junk food such as burgers, fries and pizza. Instead of slipping and binging, “plan” your binges by allowing yourself one free day a week. This way, you won’t feel deprived and when you do indulge, it will be done in a structured fashion. You won’t lose momentum and prolong the binging period. If you want to be thin like Beyonce, eat healthy but give yourself room to cheat.

The Exercise

The Beyonce workout was taken to a new level on VH1’s “From Flab to Fab,” where women were put to a 12-week test of working out like Beyonce. This weight loss plan involved six days a week in the gym. The weight loss plan includes a strong concentration on toning exercising, but cardio does come into play during interval training with kickboxing, stationary bikes and elliptical machines. Keep in mind that Beyonce logs in several hours a week dancing. It is her full-time job, after all. She told SELF magazine that if she’s had a long day of dancing, she’ll run for three miles, but if not then 6 miles. Rule No. 3 for staying thin like Beyonce is to get in lots of cardio and strength training, including six days a week in the gym. Dancing doesn’t hurt either, and it’s fun.
