How Much Does Jillian Michaels Weigh? Weight Loss Information About the Biggest Loser's Most Controversial Trainer
There’s a lot of curiosity about celebrity TV trainer Jillian Michaels. It’s easy to understand why: she’s a tough athletic coach and entrepreneur with a rockin’ hard body. What’s not to be curious about?
Michaels is one of the stars of NBC’s reality weight loss show The Biggest Loser. The show follows groups of obese contestants as they embark on intense diet and exercise programs. Michaels trains her own team of contestants who compete against fellow trainer Bob Harper’s team.
On the show Michaels has a reputation for being the “mean” trainer as opposed to her counterpart Harper who’s a more sympathetic character. No doubt Michaels’ training techniques are tough. (She has been known to have contestants bench press her!) But Michaels says her tough approach to training is warranted: in her seven seasons on the show, all of the winners have been her team members.
Perhaps Michaels’ tough approach comes from own experience with weight loss. As a teenager, Michaels was overweight. She says that at age 14 she weighed 175 pounds. Wanting to motivate the overweight teen, Michaels’ mom encouraged her to get involved in martial arts. Michaels credits martial arts with teaching her the discipline and intensity needed to lose weight and enjoy being fit.
So how much does Jillian Michaels weigh now? According to an October 2008 radio interview on Los Angeles’ KFI AM, Michaels weighs 120 pounds. At just five foot two inches tall, she’s all muscle.
Jillian Michaels As a Trainer
When she trains clients, Michaels uses a combination of kickboxing, yoga, weight training, Pilates, and plyometrics. She believes in making exercise fun and rotates each of these techniques so clients don’t get bored.
Michaels believes weight loss is a three-pronged process. She advocates an approach that involves not only intense exercise but also a healthy diet and an examination of the behaviors that cause weight issues.
She trains clients in person and through her website where she offers free diet tips and workouts to subscribers.
