Denny’s nutrition is considered important to this casual eatery with its long history of being family oriented. They realize that they must cater to the dietary requirements of all members of a family if they want to maintain their popularity and keep the whole family coming into their restaurants on a regular basis.
Fit Fare

Breakfast
Although the Grand Slam is highly promoted and is delicious, it is full of calories at over 1,000. Their Steak and Eggs contains 1,223 calories. Skinny Moons is a ham and scrambled eggbeater sandwich on toasted sourdough bread, which is served with fruit and contains 496 calories and 11 grams of fat.
Lunch
The Boca vegetarian burger is a better alternative to a hamburger, especially if you forget the french fries and get a bowl of soup or fresh fruit instead.
The Grilled Chicken Breast Salad without dressing is only 259 calories. The chicken breast is sliced and served over mixed greens with red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, and Cheddar cheese.
The Turkey Breast Salad is prepared the same way and has only 248 calories.
Dinner
The majority of appetizers are very calorie-laden. Denny’s nutrition is better followed if you order a side salad with fat-free dressing or a cup of healthy soup.
Instead of the Big Texas Chicken Fajita at 1,147 calories, choose the Grilled Chicken Breast with sliced tomatoes and green beans for a low 184 calories. Two of the chicken breasts only increases the calories to 314.
The Grilled Tilapia Over Rice Pilaf is an appetizing and filling meal for 471 calories. Served with tomato slices and green beans, the calories are only 300.
Anything deep fried is full of calories and fat, so choosing grilled, baked, or broiled entrees is a much better way to eat healthy.
Beverages
Most beverages such as soft drinks are filled with calories and sugar. Stick to water (add lemon or lime for flavoring), hot or iced tea without added sugar, or black coffee.
Dessert
It is difficult to resist the beautiful desserts, but most of them have over 500 calories including the popular cheesecake at 590 calories per serving. If you don’t want to just sit there when others have dessert, you can order one scoop of ice cream and eat the approximately 200 calories slowly. You are also getting some calcium at the same time. Or enjoy Dennys’ Rainbow Sherbet for only 20 calories.
