The fresh air alone that you breathe in deep while your pulmonary motor is transporting you along the nature trail will do you a world of good. That clean air you breathe is full of the distinct and pleasurable smells of the season you’re traversing in. A winding trail through a setting carpeted with flora, fauna, and canopied with trees of various denominations and splendor, will transport you far from the madness of the material world and all of its demands. Before you know it you will feel more relaxed and rejuvenated than you’ve felt in quite some time.

Nature has been the source of inspiration for countless poets spanning the globe and the centuries. Perhaps it’s the act of immersing yourself in something far greater than you that brings such a tremendous sense of relief, appreciation, and equanimity to a wayfaring sojourner. A healthy hike down a familiar trail or blazing down a new path previously unknown to you will soon have you forgetting the list of troubles you had upon leaving the trailhead.

A good nature hike brings you away from the crowds, the lines, and all the never-ending busyness of the world. Reconnect with the little kid inside of you who was constantly awed by the wonders and mysteries of the natural world. That is why even just watching nature shows is so relaxing to many people. It rekindles that sense of awe and wonder that is available in the many subtle nuances that a wild place has to offer in the amazing, mysterious manner in which living things exist. I mean how do those little tiny birds even survive a stormy night out there?

With all that in mind, schedule a good day hike in at least once a week because it’s one of the greatest things you can do for stress relief. You’ll find yourself walking in the footsteps of the dead poets who were so inspired by the same type of scenery you’re witnessing that they left their soulful footprints on the history of the human psyche.
