Vitamins for Body Odor: Stop Bad Body Odor Naturally
Causes
Bad body odor is normally triggered by perspiration and bacteria. Perspiration is virtually odorless. Bacteria that grows on the skin multiplies rapidly when in the presence of sweat and it is the bacterial action (waste products) that causes unpleasant odors.
Vitamins
Vitamins for body odor are helpful but it is also important to eat a well balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and perform good personal hygiene.
Vitamin A maintains and repairs the tissue of the skin and also rids the body of toxins. Foods high in vitamin A include milk, dark green and deep orange vegetables, liver, and egg yolk.
B Vitamins help remove waste products by maintaining appropriate metabolism. Foods high in B vitamins include turkey, tuna, salmon, bananas, avocados, molasses, brewers yeast, wheat bran, oats, barley, nuts, and eggs. Alcohol, drugs, and refined sugars can easily destroy B vitamins.
Vitamin E repairs damaged skin by promoting cell regeneration. Damaged skin harbors bacteria, especially when perspiring. Foods high in vitamin E include whole grains, green plants, nuts and seeds, and egg yolk.
Zinc (plus magnesium) helps balance the body’s metabolism and may help reduce perspiration. Foods high in zinc include lean beef, oysters, king crab, and wheat germ. Foods high in magnesium include spinach, broccoli, halibut, and pumpkin seeds.
Other Natural Remedies for Bad Body Odor
Besides taking vitamins for body odor, you can try the following:
• Chlorophyll, nature’s deodorizer, purifies the body and will dramatically reduce unpleasant odors. Greens and spinach are high in chlorophyll. You can also take 500mg of wheat grass daily (take on an empty stomach with a full glass of water).
• Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) kills bacteria and absorbs moisture. You can sprinkle a good amount in your bath and soak in it or you can mix it with a little talcum powder and apply it to your underarms. Many people find it to work as good as deodorant.
• Add 2 drops of tea tree oil to 1 ounce of water and apply to your skin where needed. Tea tree is an antibacterial herb.
• Rosemary is also an antibacterial herb. Add 8-10 drops of rosemary oil in 1 ounce of water and apply where needed.
• Apple cider vinegar reduces the pH of the skin. This stops bad body odor because bacteria can’t live in areas with low pH. Use apple cider vinegar instead of deodorant under the arms.
