Activia and Bifidus Regularis

Activia claims to regulate gut function due to the presence of an exclusive probiotic, bifidus regularis. Probiotics are microbial foods or supplements that can be used to change or reestablish the intestinal flora and improve the health of the host. Bifidus regularis was formulated by the scientists at Danone, the French company known as Dannon in the United States. It is reported that bifidus regularis can survive the gut and make it into the large intestine in large enough quantities to aid in digestive health. Along with bifidus regularis, Activia contains other probiotics, L. bulgaricus and S. thermophilus, which are used for lactose and sugar digestion. Consuming this product for two weeks along with a well balanced diet should improve colon functions and result in more regular bowel movements.
