Iridology Layers and Colors and Their Meanings
Iridology studies the eye’s iris’s markings to learn more about the body’s inner workings. Every color, defect, fiber, and pattern in the iris is said to be associated with organ system malfunction or a disease manifestation. Iridologists, by studying the eye, believe they can determine the patient’s overall health state, as well as whether or not the patient may have future health problems and their tendencies toward diseases that are inherited. The layers and colors analyzed in iridology are believed to be a powerful tool in indicating disease.
Iridology is not really a treatment, but a diagnostic tool used in alternative and natural health. It cannot definitively diagnose any disease and it is not a medical exam. Iridology is used to recognize:
- Toxins and their locations
- Inherent weakness or strength
- Biochemical deficiencies
- Stages of inflammation
- General health level
Layers
One of iridology’s main theories is that the iris is made of layers and that these layers represent the four stages of tissue activity. These stages include:
- Acute changes
- Chronic changes
- Sub-acute changes
- Degenerative changes
Iridologists believe that by seeing which layer has a present defect, they can determine the nature of the patient’s health problem.
Colors
There are three primary types of physical eyes. These include:
Blue-Eyed Type: This type is considered the lymphatic type. It is believed that people with this color type are at an increased risk for digestive tract problems, urogenital tract problems, joint problems, upper respiratory tract problems, lymphatic tissue problems, adrenal gland imbalances, and kidney problems.
Brown-Eyed Type: This type is considered the hematogenic type. They are believed to be predisposed to mineral imbalances, especially calcium, and blood disorders. They are also encouraged to pay attention to their liver, bone marrow, endocrine glands, circulatory system, spleen, and digestive system.
Mixed-Eye Type: This type is considered the biliary type. They tend to have discolorations on a blue background. The discolorations tend to be light brown. They are believed to be at a higher risk for digestive tract problems, liver-related problems, and allergies.
Colors that are located on specific areas of the eye are believed to be associated with certain changes. These include:
- White means that a part of the body is working hard to stay healthy.
- Yellow-white means that a part of the body is losing when fighting to stay healthy.
- Yellow means that the kidneys are functioning poorly. If the sclera is yellow it means that gallbladder disease may be present.
- Orange means that a pancreas or liver weakness may be present, glucose should be measured, or the body may have an issue metabolizing carbohydrates.
- Red-brown means that deterioration may be occurring.
- Brown means dirty blood and poor liver function.
- Black means that tissue may be dying.
