Bath Salts

There are many benefits of bath salts, whether you buy them or you make your own. They can beautify skin, promote relaxation, heal wounds, and soothe aches.

Bath salts can improve blood circulation and open pores to help detoxify your skin. They can deeply cleanse your skin by removing impurities, including dirt, sweat, and toxins.

Adding healing salts to your bath can help give you younger looking skin by balancing moisture and decreasing fine lines. They can help treat dry skin, making it softer and more supple.

Bath salts can help relieve aches and pains. They make a wonderful natural therapy for people suffering from muscle tension, muscle spasms, and stiff joints. Those with aching feet, back pain, and arthritis can greatly benefit from using them.

Salts can help improve skin conditions, including calluses, minor rashes, insect bites, eczema, and psoriasis.

Essential oils can enhance the effects of bath salts. Oils such as chamomile, lavender, and sandalwood can relax the body, reduce stress, and promote a good nights sleep. Oils such as sage, bergamot, and lemongrass can be uplifting.

How to Make your own Bath Salts

Place salt and other dry ingredients in a bowl or ziplock baggie. Add food coloring (optional) - add 1 drop, stir or shake closed baggie, and repeat (using only 1 drop at a time - until you reach the color you want). Next, gradually add the essential oils (shaking between drops).

Bath Salt Recipes:

Soothing

  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • 1 cup of Epsom salt
  • 3 drops of rose essential oil
  • 3 drops of jasmine essential oil

Tired Muscles

  • 1/2 cup of Epsom salt
  • 1/2 cup of coarse kosher salt
  • 3 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
  • 3 drops of lavender essential oil

Energizing

  • 1/2 cup of sea salt
  • 8 drops of sweet orange essential oil
  • 6 drops of tangerine essential oil
  • 4 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 4 drops of grapefruit essential oil

Skin Conditions

  • 1/2 cup of sea salt
  • 10 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil

When buying oils, read the label closely. Make sure it is an essential oil (100% pure). Fragrance oils (made of chemicals) do not have the benefits like essential oils do.

Add your salt to running bathwater and swish until well mixed. Use about a 1/4 cup per bath.

Keep unused bath salts in a tightly sealed glass jar and store in a cool dark place.

Precautions:

  • Do not overuse healing bath salts.
  • They should not be used for young children.
  • Consult with a health care provider before using if you are a woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking medications, or have a kidney disorder.

It is fun, easy, and relatively inexpensive to make your own bath salts and you do not have to worry about them containing any harsh ingredients.
