What is Myrrh Used for?

Myrrh has been used in religious ceremonies, in aromatherapy, as a perfume and as medicine to treat a variety of medical conditions for many years.

How is Myrrh Used?

Myrrh is an incense that is commonly burned on small charcoal disks. You place pieces of myrrh on a charcoal disk then light the disk on fire; it slowly burns releasing the fragrance. Other herbs are sometimes added for additional healing benefits.

Myrrh can also be purchased as an essential oil, a tincture, or an extract.

The oil or extract can be used any way you would normally use one. Some of the ways they are used include:

  • In a diffuser.
  • Perfume
  • Body rubs.
  • Added to the water of a vaporizer.
  • Added to bath water.
  • As a hot or cold compress.
  • Mixed into a lotion.
  • In a spray bottle misted around a room.

Pure myrrh and charcoal disks can be purchased at some health food stores or can be found on many Internet sites at affrodable prices.

Medical Benefits of Myrrh

Myrrh is an all natural cure with antiseptic, antimicrobial, sedative, anti-viral, anti- inflammation and many other healing properties.

Myrrh has been used in the following ways:
