Find a Natural Hemorrhoid Treatment
Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids, a very common condition, are distended veins in or around the rectum. Internal hemorrhoids are located above the anal sphincter and can protrude through the anus (prolapsed hemorrhoid). External hemorrhoids are located outside the anal sphincter.
Common causes of hemorrhoids include constipation, straining with bowel movements, prolonged sitting or standing, pregnancy, and aging.
Hemorrhoid Relief
• Sit in warm water (basin or tub) for 15 minutes at a time, 2-3 times a day to ease symptoms. Add some Epsom salt or witch hazel to increase the benefits.
• Add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to 1 glass of water and drink with each meal. This is an effective natural hemorrhoid treatment.
• Make your own suppositories. Melt an ice cube or cut a peeled, raw potato into the shape of a bullet and insert one or the other into the rectum.
• Add 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to 1 cup of hot water, cover, steep for 5 minutes, and strain. Drink 1 cup 3 times a day.
• Boil a large leek and eat every day with dinner or as an afternoon snack.
The following are topical remedies (make sure the affected area is clean and dry before applying):
• Apply ice to help decrease swelling.
• Once a day, apply liquid lecithin on hemorrhoids until they disappear.
• Soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and dab it on the affected area as needed to get hemorrhoid relief. This will help shrink swollen vessels and stop itching.
• Soak a cotton ball in witch hazel and secure it to the affected area for the night to help inflammation.
• Put extract of echinacea on a cotton ball and apply to the affected area to relieve pain and itching.
• Apply cocoa butter, kaolin, lanolin, or mineral oil to the affected area.
• Puncture a vitamin E capsule and gently rub the oil on the affected area. This natural hemorrhoid treatment helps by healing the skin and improving blood circulation.
