Diet

Eating a healthy and well-balanced diet plays a big role in keeping the skin young looking. Certain nutrients, including foods high in sulfur, silicon and zinc, are important for collagen production, which decreases as one ages. Collagen maintains the strength and elasticity of connective tissue. It can help rebuild damaged skin, and help protect it from further damage. Omega 3, found mostly in cold water fish, is another vital nutrient for great skin. Eat lean meats, plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds, legumes and low-fat dairy products. Avoid or limit processed foods, saturated fats and junk foods. Drink sufficient amounts of water to prevent dehydration, a big culprit in wrinkle formation.

Natural Remedies

  • Cucumbers are an excellent remedy for wrinkles under the eyes. Besides including them in your diet, place a freshly sliced cucumber over each closed eye and leave on for one hour while you de-stress. You can also mix 1 teaspoon of powdered milk with 2 teaspoons of grated cucumber, apply the mixture, leave on for 15 minutes and rinse off with cold water.

  • Olive oil can help remove unwanted lines naturally. Before going to bed, rub a small amount below each eye. Jojoba oil can be used instead of olive oil. To enhance the benefits, mix 1 to 2 drops of essential oil (such as sandalwood, frankincense, neroli, clary sage or geranium) with 1 teaspoon of olive or jojoba oil.

  • Aloe vera is great for the skin. It stimulates collagen and elastin production. If you have a plant, cut a piece off from the lowest leaf and apply the gel to your skin. If you don’t have a plant, you can buy it but avoid products that have been processed.

  • Egg whites can help by tightening the skin. Simply beat one egg white, apply, let it dry and wash off with tepid water.

  • Honey can improve blood circulation, which can help get rid of unwanted lines. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of honey with 1 tablespoon of heavy whipping cream. Gently massage a small amount over the area under the eyes, leave on for 30 minutes and rinse off with tepid water.

  • Beeswax is another natural way to remove wrinkles under eyes by moisturizing the skin. Over low heat, melt 1 tablespoon of beeswax. Once melted, remove from heat. Add 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of almond oil and 2 tablespoons of apricot extract and mix. Before applying, refrigerate the mixture for at least two hours.

Be careful you do not get the above remedies in your eyes.

  • get adequate sleep
  • don’t over wash your face
