The Benefits of Detoxing

Toxins assault our bodies every single day from a multitude of directions. The foods we eat leave behind wastes and toxins that are not completely eliminated from the body. Smoking, alcohol and caffeine all leave horrible toxins behind. Even our dental fillings could be making us sick from the toxins used to make the fillings but there are natural heavy metal detox options to address that, too.

The environment and the people around us expose even those that try to do everything right; eat right, exercise, drink plenty of water; to even more toxins every single day. All of these wastes and toxins build up in our bodies and will cause you to feel sick and unhealthy, make you gain weight or prevent you from losing it and leave you constantly fatigued with little energy to spare.

Many more people today are realizing this and turning to detox methods to help eliminate excess waste and toxins from their bodies on a regular basis. Detox methods will make you healthier, help you lose weight and increase your energy levels, AFTER the toxins have been eliminated. The detox process brings the toxins back from where they have been stored in your body and out into the open to be eliminated. Due to the fact that these toxins are being stirred up during the detox process, it is very common for you to have some uncomfortable side effects while you are detoxing. Some of the common sided effects of detox are fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, lightheadedness and insomnia. These symptoms are normal and should be expected and prepared for before you begin your detox.

Tips To Cope With Detox

These symptoms will occur as your body is going through the cleansing process but there are some things that you can do to help in coping with detox.

Plan your detox for over a weekend of whenever you can take a couple of days to just rest as much as possible.

Eat at least a 50% raw diet for a couple of days before you begin your detox.

If you aren’t already taking a good multivitamin, begin taking one daily at least a week before you begin your detox.

Before and during your detox, drink plenty of water. Water helps flush and eliminate the toxins from your body so the side effects will pass quicker.

Many natural teas can help soothe the stomach and the nerves and can help you sleep better while not interfering with the detox process.

Mild exercise will help you sweat out some of the toxins, if you feel up to it. Only do what you feel you can. During a detox is not the time to overexert yourself. Saunas and steam baths are another way to sweat out the excess toxins but do pay attention to how you are feeling and don’t overdo it.

Eat carefully the first couple of days after detox. Clear liquids are best to start with and then slowly begin to introduce fruits and vegetables back into your diet.

It may seem like a lot of trouble to go through all of this but if you begin to detox on a regular basis, the side effects will decrease. The benefits of detoxing will prove to be worth the trouble as your immune system gets healthier, you lose excess fat and your energy levels are increased.
