Slow the Aging Process

Antioxidants

A human’s life span is longer than other mammals (such as dogs, cats, and chimpanzees) because we have more antioxidants within our cells.[1-2] Anitoxidants prevent free-radicals from damaging cells and reduce ones risk of getting heart disease, cancer, and other diseases linked to the aging process.

In several animal studies, dietary antioxidants have been shown to increase life expectancy. Important antioxidants include beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, flavonoids, selenium, coenzyme Q10, and sulfur-containing amino acids.

Weight

According to insurance companies, severely overweight and underweight people have the shortest life span. People with weight just below the average weight have the longest life span.

Exercise

It is estimated that every hour you exercise, you will slow the aging process by two hours.

Ginkgo Biloba Extract

It is said that plants were “signed by the creator” with some type of clue that would indicate its therapeutic use. For example:

  • lobelia’s flowers are shaped like a stomach and are used to induce vomiting
  • blood root’s sap and roots are the color of blood and are traditionally used as a blood purifier
  • goldenseal’s yellow-green roots are used to treat jaundice and infections.

This concept is known as “the doctrine of signatures”.

So what is ginkgo’s? Ginkgo biloba is the oldest living tree species. It survived the Ice Age and can be traced back to more than 200 million years ago. The ginkgo tree is most resistant to diseases, insects, and pollution. Its life span is long and strong.

Insufficient blood and oxygen supply are common symptoms in the elderly and ginkgo improves blood and oxygen supply to the tissues, especially to the brain.

DHEA

DHEA levels drop as we age so it is believed by some that if the levels are increased, the aging process will slow down. Others disagree because people with progeria (premature aging) have normal levels of DHEA. More research is needed.

Other

Eating healthy, avoiding cigarette smoke, limiting alcohol, getting sufficient sleep, and managing stress in a positive way can also help slow the aging process.
