Belladonna Homeopathy: Advantages and Disadvantages
What is Belladonna Homeopathy?
Belladonna has two other common names: Deadly Nightshade and Devil’s Cherries. Belladonna is a poisonous plant in large doses. In very small doses it can be used to treat or combat illnesses. Some of the more common symptoms of belladonna poisoning include: extreme restlessness, convulsions, hot flashes, hypersensitivity in regards to the senses, flushing, dilated pupils, glossy or glaring eyes, throbbing migraines, and delirium.
This means that since homeopathic medicine treats like with like, illnesses with all of the above symptoms would be cured with belladonna.
The Benefits of Belladonna Homeopathy
Belladonna homeopathy can treat conditions that have symptoms similar to the effects of belladonna poisoning. This can encompass a broad range of illnesses, infections, and diseases. Typically, belladonna homeopathy is used when the following circumstances are present:
• seizures/epilepsy
• fever
• scarlet fever
• severe anxiety
• acute pain
• inflammation
• severe throbbing migraines
• congestion
• earaches
• restlessness
The Dangers of Belladonna Homeopathy
We must remember that homeopathy remedies are usually diluted so that only a small trace of the element is left. This means that it can not be enough to actually harm a person but enough to send a signal to the brain to induce the desired response. Homeopathy often deals with natural substances that can cause severe reactions in large doses.
If a person does not understand this then the dangers are in the ignorance. One of the most common problems people have is that when they read about homeopathy remedies they think that they simply need to go out and consume the plant, element, etc. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. I can not stress enough that the dilution techniques are imperative in order to successfully treat a condition or poisoning can occur.
Belladonna is not something to mess with. Only those that understand its properties, doses and poisonous aspects should handle it use it and encourage others to use it. This is the only danger with belladonna homeopathy. Keep in mind; it is referred to as “deadly” nightshade for a reason so care must be exercised.
