Candida in Our Bodies

Candida is a natural fungus inside our bodies that is forever lurking, waiting for our bodies to lay down their defenses and start a full blown infection. From the mouth, to the intestines, to the vagina, candida is present, but often in minimal numbers.

Overgrowth of candida may occur when people are experiencing intense stress, when they have taken birth control pills, and when they have ingested antibiotics more than four times in a year. It may also occur in those with diabetes, those who live in humid environments, and those who had sexual intercourse with an infected partner.

The threats of candida overgrowth continue to plague our bodies every day, so it is essential to use some form of natural detoxification to keep the candida in optimal and balanced levels. The colon is the main organ responsible for the internal balance of candida. However, when our in-house intestine filter system becomes overwhelmed and overloaded with the fungus, it can no longer keep our bodies candida-free, thus making us susceptible to an infection. This is when natural candida cleansing diet foods are needed.

Candida Cleansing Diet Foods

Candida cleansing diet foods are natural home remedies that help the intestines control the fungus levels in the body. The foods to eat on a candida cleanse diet are believed to starve the yeast, cause it to waste away, and be eliminated from the body. Candida cleansing foods are all natural, sugar free, and unprocessed food products that are basically grouped into vegetables and fruits, probiotics, proteins, and grains.

Vegetables and Fruits

Vegetables and fruits have enzyme contents that contribute to the reduction of candida growth. They absorb the poisons from the fungi and remove it from the body. Green leafy vegetables are best, while fruits and vegetables that are high in sugar should be avoided. The bulk of meals should consist of vegetables and fruits, which are either cooked or raw. Examples of these vegetables include: broccoli, spinach, cabbage, radish and okra, and fruits: avocado, berries, lemon, grapefruit and lime.

Probiotics

Probiotics are an essential part of the diet because they replenish the good bacteria in the stomach and colon. They restore the balance in the body, and help eliminate the yeast. Good live bacteria create antifungal enzymes that eliminate candida. Probiotics are found in yogurt, soy milk, and low fat cottage cheese.

Proteins

Proteins should be mold-and-sugar free, to make the stomach feel full while starving the candida. Whenever possible, eat only non-processed meats. Canned meats should be avoided because they contain unhealthy preservatives. Anything smoked, vacuum-packed, and not fresh should also be avoided. Examples of protein foods are cooked chicken, beef, fish, and eggs.

Grains

Grains are excellent foods to eat on a candida cleanse diet because of their high fiber content. Fiber sweeps the colon clean of candida so it does not grow in large amounts. Grains, because of their fiber content, naturally cleanse the colon of chemical toxins and heavy metals that may be ingested. Grains to include on a candida diet include amaranth, buckwheat, wild or brown rice, and millet, to name a few.

Our body needs serious assistance in the candida detoxification department. Every effort is vital to keep our bodies candida-free and healthy!
