Healthy Nutritious Foods to Eat and Enjoy a Healthy Holiday Season
Nothing is impossible…
Our lives are hectic enough, with work, kids, the house…
Add to it the holiday season, and the shopping, getting together with friends and family, and even travel and you’ve got the perfect setting for a blown diet! Let’s face it, who has time to think about nutrition…and more importantly, at the holidays, who even wants to!
With these simple tips…you won’t have to!
Tip #1: It Pays To Be Positive
Recognize that how we view the holiday season is integral to how we approach our diet and food plans. This very special cluster of days should be enjoyed for the meaning they hold for each of us, savoring the time spent with friends and family, taking pride in the care we put into each gift purchase, and the relishing the kindness shown to us…and more importantly, the kindness we show to one another!
When we have a positive approach, we approach our diet in a positive, and more healthful way.
Tip #2: Know Your Plans, Plan Your Day
Plan your day during the holidays just as you would during the rest of the year, recognizing what your access is going to be to healthy, nutritious foods. By planning ahead, regardless of the hectic nature of your day, you are empowering yourself to be prepared for many of the detours that we tend to face…especially during the chaos of the holidays.
Tip #3: Pack Your Snack
I don’t know about you, but during the holiday season, I often find myself grabbing on the go, and munching while I shop. My solution? I pack my own snack! I always keep it sweet and simple…and definitely not sticky! (No one likes sticky fingers when they shop!)
To pack your own snack, try some Tempting Trail Mix. It has all the fabulous flavors you are looking for, and is a healthy, satisfying snack that won’t leave you feeling sluggish…or guilty!
Tip #4: Eating Out? Check It Out!
Invited out to a holiday dinner party at a local restaurant? Check out the menu in advance to find out exactly what your choices are as well as the substitution policy of the restaurant.
Don’t worry if the choices are limited. One meal does not a blown diet make! If you know in advance the menu will take you off your diet, plan the rest of your day around that meal. Whatever you do though, don’t skip meals! Your metabolism will not appreciate it and you may end up feeling sluggish, and even ruining your diet! Just have smaller meals or snacks and most importantly…enjoy the dinner!
Tip #5: Help Yourself & You Help Others: Be A Designated Driver
Ever wonder why you can go to a party, eat hardly anything, have a few drinks and still gain weight? It’s because of the empty calories found in the alcohol.
The solution can be found in the kindest of gestures…be the chosen designated driver. Imagine the satisfaction you will have knowing those you care about will arrive home safely…thanks to you!
Have Fun!
The key to being nutritionally successful this holiday season is to be prepared. With a few simple tips, and a little planning, you can face this holiday season with confidence, courage and commitment.
