Top 5 Biodynamic Teas

One area where biodynamic consumption has flourished is in the production of biodynamic teas. In the article Biodynamic Farming & Eating, we looked at what the term “biodynamic” meant and that teas were one of the areas where that growing process came into play. There are several teas on the open market today that are labeled biodynamic but what we are going to look at here are the top five teas that are actually certified as biodynamic.

The following teas are all available for purchase online through the Steiner Storehouse, a biodynamic retailer named after the creator of biodynamics. Each of the teas were also created by the Demeter certified biodynamic tea maker Hampstead Estate and are grown at the first certified organic biodynamic tea estate in the world called MakaibariT, located in the Himalayan mountains.

1. Organic Earl Grey - Using the original formula that was created for the second Earl of Grey, this tea is blended with organic bergamot oil. This tea retails for $6.75 for twenty-five sachets or $9.75 for close to five ounces of loose tea.

2. Organic Saffron Black - This is a simple biodynamic black tea that is infused with saffron. Available only in sachets at $6.75 for twenty-five.

3. Organic English Breakfast - A combination of several different black tea leaf types for a strong and hardier flavor. This tea retails for $6.75 for twenty-five sachets or $9.75 for close to five ounces of loose tea.

4. Organic Green - Created from the two buds of green leaves, this tea is unfermented and lightly steamed before the drying process. This tea retails for $6.75 for twenty-five sachets or $9.75 for close to five ounces of loose tea.

5. Organic Green Ginger - A blend of ginger root is infused with green tea leaves to create a fresh drink to aid with digestion. Available only in sachets at $6.75 for twenty-five.

Though the above are the top five biodynamic teas from Hampstead Estates, the tea makers do carry more varieties of organic teas that are all available through the Steiner Storehouse.
