Burn Calories and Improve Co-ordination

If you are looking for a new fitness routine that will both be a lot of fun and hold several health benefits for your overall wellness, then kickboxing is the way to go. It is said that you can burn 350 to 450 calories with one hour of kickboxing. Some other kickboxing components of wellness are increased energy, alertness, and improved coordination.

Some people may feel that kickboxing is difficult or outside their realm of ability due to being too out of shape or overweight. With the many types of workout programs available, people of all ages and size can ease their way into the swing of things. Kickboxing is a great sport to join with your ten year old who has been having problems dealing with his anger or with bullies at school. It can help him not only build his self esteem but keep him fast, agile and healthy.

Take It Slow and Easy

There are several levels of kickboxing you will need to work through if you plan to become a competitor or learn the best moves you can for self defense. If you are just looking for a routine that has lots of different moves and works every part of your body, then a local kickboxing class in a nearby community center should be just what you need.

Kickboxing is an excellent way for training your body and your mind at the same time. It helps you to learn discipline, increases your concentration and will stabilize your eating habits. While kickboxing does burn calories, you will more than likely not see a significant drop in weight from this exercise even if you participate several times a week. Kickboxing is geared to improve your health by toning your muscles, building your endurance and providing a healthy way for you to let off steam.

Relieve Stress and Clear Your Mind

One of the best known kickboxing components of wellness is the ability to relieve stress. Too many people are suffering heart attacks, strokes, mental breakdowns and more all due to too much stress in their lives. By joining a kickboxing course, you can learn to release your stress, anger and frustration on the heavy bags and in sparring matches with those who are properly equipped. With the self discipline you will learn, you will be able to have more control of your emotions and be able to let go of all the negativity in a healthy manner.

If you are planning on joining a kickboxing class, you may want to speak to your doctor first. If you have any problems with breathing or your heart, he may recommend that you take it slow because some of the workouts can be pretty intense. Not everyone can punch hard for three minutes back and forth on a punching bag and then rotate and do 3 fast and high leg kicks within a minutes time. If you are unsure of what level you would be at, even if you have been doing some other cardio workouts at home or the gym, you may still want to sign up for the beginner claass just to see how much of a workout there is. This will give your body time to adjust so you will not end up being so sore that you will not be able to go to work or return for your next class. Even at the most basic level, you can still expect to increase your stamina, find more power and speed, and improve both your reflexes and your coordination.
