Popular Food Swaps
You actually can take many of your holiday recipes and shave calories off of them by making a few food swaps. Swap out sugar for Splenda, butter for I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spray (in some cases), and toss the vegetable oil spray can for an olive oil spray can. it may take some trial and error before determining which food swaps work best. Some swaps may not suitable for your recipes.
Considerations
Swapping traditional desserts for those lower in calories doesn’t mean you’re eating healthier. These recipes are meant only to save you calories here and there as you are faced with holiday eating. Good practices of portion control and moderation should still be incorporated for a healthy eating lifestyle, even when it is the holidays.
