Losing belly fat is easy but you do have to put in some effort

When trying to lose excess belly fat it is important to remember that you cant target any specific part of your body without working out your entire body. Its also important to keep your metabolism running as fast as possible. If you’ve heard it once you’ve heard it a thousand times, its all about eating a balanced diet full of nutritious foods and getting enough exercise. The most important thing to remember is to have patience with yourself. It might not be easy and sometimes you may feel it isn’t going fast enough but its important to be patient and stick with it. Persistence is whats going to get you those six pack abs.

Don’t buy into those magic pills or those too-good-to-be-true weight loss devices.

We’ve all seen those commercials on TV touting a magic pill that will help you shed 30 pounds without changing your diet or exercise routine or the super sonic ab belt that is supposed to magically zap away the fat while you sit and watch television. The truth is anything that seems too good to be true probably is and you shouldn’t waste your money on it. There is nothing on the market that can help you speed up belly fat loss, or any fat loss without you having to put in some effort yourself. There are supplement programs available that, when paired with a healthy diet and regular exercise, can help speed up or improve your success rate. That being said you still have to put in the work by getting up off the couch everyday and by eating healthy.

Don’t try to starve yourself. Eat small meals all throughout the day.

If you’re trying to lose belly fat fast the worst thing you could do is to starve yourself on a calorie-restrictive diet. When you don’t eat for long periods of time your body begins to think that food is scarce and it goes into a kind of starvation mode. After that happens, any calorie eaten will be stored. Then, instead of getting energy from the food you eat your body will begin to break down your already lean muscle. This is bad because you want your body to break down fat so you can slim down your belly. Furthermore, your lean muscle is what burns calories for you around the clock so you need to hold on to it if you’re going to speed up your belly fat loss.

Instead, what you should do is eat about six small meals a day. You want to have three small snacks and three relatively small meals throughout the say. Great snacks are a hard boiled egg and some fruit or a handful of almonds and a small amount of low-fat cheese. Great meals include oatmeal with fruit and juice, a half chicken breast on top of a small personal salad, and a 4oz piece of fish, with some steamed vegetables and sweet potatoes. By using foods that are nutritious, high in protein, and low in carbohydrates you can help speed up your fat loss and feel fuller throughout the day.

Eat more of the these belly fat burning foods and a few things to avoid.

If you want to check out a diet that is more than a just a diet, look into The Abs Diet by David Zinczenko. The Abs Diet is not a diet at all but a way to change your lifestyle and an easy one at that. If you’ve tried going carb-less or sugarless or fat-less you know how hard it is to cut something completely out of your diet. The beauty of this program is that just you’re adding some new things to your diet and if you want, you can go rather slowly adding just one or two new items a week. In the book, David describes how adding twelve power foods to your diet you can help speed up your metabolism which will help you speed up your belly fat loss.

Those power foods include almonds and nuts, beans and legumes, spinach and other green leafy vegetables, dairy (fat-free), instant oatmeal, eggs, turkey and other lean meats, peanut butter, olive oil, whole grain foods, extra protein (using whey supplements), raspberries and other berries. These foods were chosen for their fat-burning properties as well as their high amounts of protein, mono and poly unsaturated fats, fiber and other nutrients. A few ingredients to avoid are refined grains and sugars, saturated fat, trans fat and high fructose corn syrup. Making sure to drink plenty of water is another easy step you can take. Having enough water in your system makes it easier for your entire body to digest and use the food you eat and helps your liver process excess fats.

Exercise combining cardio, aerobics, and weight training.

Exercising regularly is just as important as eating right. Combining cardio exercises like jogging, walking, elliptical or bike riding with aerobic and weight training is the best way to achieve all over results and speed up your belly fat loss. Great aerobic classes are usually available at you local gym and you can find different kinds of workouts on TV if you have a fitness channel or online. Outdoor sports like basketball, soccer, volleyball, and kickball are a few other great ways to get an aerobic workout. Weight training, even with relatively light weights, help to tone up your muscles and speed up fat loss. Before more fat can be burned muscle must be formed. In all these exercises its important to take it slow and listen to your body, gradually increase your level of exercise as you feel comfortable.

Be patient and persistent

The most important thing you can do is be patient with yourself. Chances are you didn’t gain that belly fat overnight, so its not logical to expect to be able to get rid of it overnight. Try to make a few changes in your diet and exercise plan a week. Take it slow at first and once you see how easy it is you’ll be making healthy choices automatically everyday. Losing belly fat can help you gain a lot of self confidence as well as helping to keep you healthier overall.
