In Germany, it is used to treat a variety of viruses and infections, such as colds, the flu, whooping cough, bronchitis, ear infections, and tonsillitis.

Elderberry

Elderberry is said to be an effective antiviral herb. For 2,500 years, this herb has been used as a remedy for colds, the flu, cough, and upper respiratory tract infections. It is said to be most effective as a lozenge or a syrup.

Forsythia

Forsythia is said to be an effective herb for treating viruses. It is a traditional Chinese herb that is said to be beneficial in treating the flu, colds, and other viruses. Forsythia can be mixed with lemon balm, honeysuckle, or ginger and made into a tea. The ginger and lemon balm can be used together with this herb when making a tea.

Grape Seed Extract

This antiviral herb is said to possess antiviral properties, as well as antimicrobial properties. It is most commonly used to treat fungal infections, but it may also be effective in treating certain viruses, such as influenza type A and herpes simplex type 1. It is most often taken twice a day as two to four drops. It can be diluted in at least four ounces of orange, grapefruit, carrot, or pineapple juice.

Isatidis

This herb is one of the most commonly used traditional Chinese herbs with antiviral properties. It is said to be an effective remedy for hepatitis because it is said to aid in decreasing the liver inflammation and swelling associated with this virus. It is considered mild, yet effective, and is also said to be an effective antibacterial herb as well.
