Cedarwood

This oil also repels insects if you dilute it in a carrier oil and rub it on your temples and wrists.

Ginger

Ginger essential oil is used in traditional Asian medicine. One of its most popular uses is the treatment of digestive problems like nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. In fact, some digestive supplements contain ginger. Other uses of ginger essential oil include the treatment of muscle pain, osteoarthritis, joint pain and rheumatoid arthritis. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine suggests that ginger can safely relieve the nausea and vomiting caused by pregnancy. No solid evidence exists to support the use of ginger for motion sickness and the nausea caused by chemotherapy.

Geranium

Geranium essential oil has a scent similar to that of rose essential oil. This oil comes from the geranium flower and has a sweet floral scent. This essential oil relieves the symptoms of overly-dry and overly-oily skin, especially in those who have combination skin. Geranium oil also has antiseptic properties, giving it use in preventing infection. Those who have existing skin conditions should not use this oil without the supervision of a medical professional, as it can aggravate skin problems. Other uses for this oil include stress reduction, treatment of premenstrual syndrome and treatment of menopause symptoms.

Orange

A number of cleaners contain orange oil because of its pleasant scent, but this essential oil also has several health uses. Orange essential oil has an invigorating smell that increases energy levels and alertness. This oil acts as an anti-inflammatory, reducing fever and pain associated with infections. Orange oil also improves mood, reduces spasms that cause coughing and cramps and acts as an aphrodisiac. This oil also serves as an antiseptic agent and a natural diuretic, which means that it helps flush excess fluid from the body.

Ylang Ylang

Ylang ylang oil has a strong scent, making it ideal as a libido-enhancer and aphrodisiac.
