This condition might be a symptom of several health problems like diabetes, urinary tract infection (UTI), neurological diseases (stroke), prostate problems, pregnancy, diuretic use (medicines to treat high blood pressure), and interstitial cystitis (infection of the bladder). Despite this, this condition becomes a real problem to your health because it will always compel you to go to a bathroom even if your bladder is not full.

If you have frequent urination, you can surely treat it at home by applying natural treatment. The following are some natural remedies for frequent urination:

Drink Panax Ginseng Tea

Panax ginseng can help relax the bladder muscle to reduce the episodes of urinary urgency. To prepare a cup of tea, add about 1.5 grams of dried root powder or 3 grams of chopped fresh root to five ounces of boiling water and let it soak for 15 minutes. You can drink panax ginseng tea three to four times each day within four weeks.

Consume Cranberries

Cranberries can be effective in preventing urinary tract infections (UTIs) leading to overactive bladder. Researchers at the Harvard Medical School found that cranberries could prevent UTIs by 35% in a one-year study. You can consume a glass or two of cranberry juice every day. However, cranberry juice contains high calories (8 ounces of cranberry juice contain 130 to 140 calories). Instead of drinking juice, you can take cranberry supplements.

Kegel Exercises

Kegel exercises include holding your pelvic floor muscle for five seconds and relaxing it for five seconds. Repeat this cycle ten times, twice daily. By doing this, you can decrease the intensity of overactive bladder by invigorating the muscles around the bladder and urethra.

Consume High-Fiber Foods

High-fiber food intake such as fruits and vegetables can reduce the risk of constipation, as it is associated with the worsening of overactive bladder.

Avoid Alcohol and Carbonated Drinks

Alcoholic beverages like wine and beer can boost urine production because they send a signal to the brain to keep releasing more urine to the bladder. Alcohol might interfere neurologically with the bladder and affect bladder control. These beverages certainly exacerbate overactive bladder. In addition, carbonated drinks like soda should be avoid. These can make your body produce more urine.

Avoid Caffeinated Beverages and Chocolate

Coffee contains caffeine that might irritate sensitive bladders. Chocolate has caffeine, too. Avoid eating chocolate before going to bed. You are better off trying to consume decaf beverages and milk chocolate if you cannot leave this habit.

Avoid Spicy Foods

If you like the burning sensation of hot or spicy foods, you need to skip them. These foods can increase urine production and contribute to bladder irritation resulting in urinary urgency.
