Toothache Home Remedies: Stop the Pain the Natural Way

Treating Toothaches Naturally

Toothaches can be caused from a number of problems, but no matter what the cause is, they all result in pain and discomfort. While dealing with a toothache, it can become unbearable to do even the most simplest tasks, such as eating and drinking. The throbbing pain can often keep you awake at night and leave you searching for quick relief. Many toothache home remedies have been shown to be very effective in naturally relieving the pain and discomfort associated with the problem.

Ice

Although it seems simple, ice is effective in relieving toothaches. Ice is a natural way to reduce the pain and swelling caused by an aching tooth. Ice can be used two ways as a treatment method. The first is to simply apply the ice directly to the area. The second is to hold an ice cube between your thumb and index finger for a few minutes, and then place the thumb and finger directly on the affected area. Although this is very simple, the ice will instantly overwhelm the pain impulses in the area and offer relief. The best part about this method is it can safely be repeated as often as necessary.

Garlic and Salt

Using garlic and crushed salt as a natural toothache remedy can also be done. Simply place a clove of garlic and a little crushed salt on the aching tooth and wait for the relief. The only down side to this remedy is you may have bad breath for a while.

Onion

Onion is another natural home remedy that will result in bad breath but it’s effective because it contains antibacterial properties. Placing a small amount of chopped onion on the tooth or gum will not only relieve the pain but kill germs in the area as well. Although it may taste bad, it has been shown to be very effective in relieving the pain.

Salt

Rinsing the mouth with a mixture of warm water and salt is a great way to relieve the pain. It also cleans the mouth and reduces swelling. It’s probably the best and most well known natural remedy for a toothache.

Clove Oil

Clove oil can also be used as a safe and effective way to deal with the pain. Simply apply a little clove oil to the painful area with a cotton ball to relieve the pain. Oregano oil can be used in this way as well to relieve pain.

Wheat Grass

Using the juice from wheat grass as a mouth wash can easily relieve the pain from a toothache. The juice extracts the toxins that have developed within the gums and cheeks, allowing the pain and discomfort to subside. This works well on pain caused from tooth decay.

The above toothache home remedies are a safe and effective way to get back to your normal lifestyle until you are able to see a dentist.
