Cancer and the Budwig Diet

Cancer and the Budwig Diet
Page content

Introduction

The Budwig Diet has been used since 1951 to help people find relief and even healing from a number of maladies, including skin and cardiovascular diseases and cancer. The diet was founded by the German biochemist Dr. Johanna Budwig, and incorporates vegetable juices, flaxseed oil, and cottage cheese. It bars animal products such as meat and fat. The Budwig Diet is also considered a valuable tool in cancer prevention.

Basics

The basics of the Budwig Diet are combining organic flaxseed oil and cottage cheese. The food must be eaten together for the remedy to be rendered effective.

The recommended recipe is the following:

  • 1 cup low-fat, organic cottage cheese
  • 2 to 5 tablespoons of organic flaxseed oil
  • Add some water to make the mixture soft, then blend.

Other Foods

Other foods may also be included in the Budwig Diet as follows:

  • 1 to 3 tablespoons of ground flaxseeds
  • Cayenne or other red pepper
  • Garlic
  • Honey
  • Natural wine or champagne
  • Fresh fruit or greens
  • Fresh fruit juices
  • Organic vegetable juices
  • Muesli
  • Whole grains such as millet
  • Potatoes

Forbidden Foods

There are a number of foods that are unacceptable in the Budwig Diet, especially when one is trying to cure an illness. Some of these forbidden foods include the following:

  • Animal fat
  • Sugar including brown
  • Salad oil such as mayonnaise
  • All meat including those that are preserved
  • Butter
  • Margarine

Studies

Since the discovery of the Budwig Diet in 1951, numerous studies have been performed to verify its success. Some cases of cancer that had been deemed terminal were bettered or even cured by patients strictly incorporating the Budwig Diet. This may be because many cancer patients have blood that lacks phosphatides and lipoproteins, and the cottage cheese and flaxseed oil promotes the production of these chemicals. Avoiding the sugars and animal fats prevent dangerous preservatives from entering the body and hampering the production of phosphatides and lipoproteins.
