Unhealthy Americans

One of the largest factors in the overall decline in the health of people in North America is the diets that they eat. Obesity is at epidemic proportions and people are living on fast food and processed foods rather than fueling their bodies with the appropriate living foods that will give them energy and keep their bodies healthy and performing at the optimum levels. Our diets are overloaded with sugars, caffeine, chemicals, toxins. The living foods that we do eat are destroyed by overcooking and removing all the nutritional value that we may actually get from the small amount of decent food we eat. Another factor that is harming our diets is the way that we combine foods. Most people have no idea that by eating the wrong kinds of food combinations, we are causing inappropriate chemical conditions in the body. Our bodies are being put into an acidity condition which results in a lowering of the body’s alkaline reserves which causes autointoxication.

The Kinds of Food

Some foods are alkali forming foods meaning the end products of these foods after digestion are alkaline based. These foods are mainly fruits and vegetables. Concentrated proteins such as meat, fish, eggs and cheese are acid forming foods. Concentrated carbohydrates and starches are also acid forming foods including grains, breads and all flours and sugars. These proteins and starches that are acid forming and need different conditions for digestion, therefore, they should not be combined at the same meal.

The Rules For Food

The basic rules for food combinations are as follows:

  • Starches and sugars should not be eaten at the same meal with proteins and acid fruits.
  • Vegetables, salads and fruits should form the major part of the diet and should be combined correctly.
  • Proteins, starches and fats should be eaten in small quantities.
  • Only whole grains and unprocessed starches should be used.
  • There should be no less than four hours between starch and protein meals.
  • Milk does not combine well with food and should be kept to a minimum.

Do not combine foods that shouldn’t be. Follow the list below:

List A

Proteins, all meat, all poultry, cheese, eggs, fish, soya beans and yogurt

List B

Neutral foods, most vegetables, all salads, seeds, nuts, herbs, cream, butter and olive oil

List C

Starches, biscuits, bread, cakes, crackers, oats, pasta, potatoes, rice, sugar, honey and any other sweets

You can mix anything from List A with anything from List B or anything from List B with anything from List C. Never mix List A and List C.

By changing our eating habits we can combine our foods properly to reduce the incompatibility that occurs in our digestive system and fully utilize the vital nutrients that our foods can offer us. Following this type of diet, drinking plenty of water and becoming more active and exercising can be a huge step in overcoming many of the health problems that Americans are facing today.
