What are Eye Exercises For?

Did you know that eye exercises are a safe, natural way to improve your vision? Already, tens of thousands of people have used eye exercise programs to correct refractive errors caused by:

· Myopia (Nearsightedness)

· Hyperopia (Farsightedness)

· Presbyopia (Aging Vision)

· Astigmatism

All it takes is a little commitment to performing daily eye exercises - and they next time you visit your optometrist you will be rewarded with a reduced prescription. Eventually you will not need glasses at all! Depending on the extent of your blurry vision, you may be able to restore your eyesight to 20/20 in just four weeks.

What Causes Blurry Vision?

The main cause of blurry vision is tension in the core eye muscles. This affects your ability to focus far away (by tightening the lens) or up close (by relaxing the lens). In time, the eye reacts by altering the shape of the eyeball, which serves to make your vision worse.

Another cause of poor vision is becoming dependant on corrective lenses, like glasses or contacts. These take out all the hard work of focusing properly – a great quick fix for poor vision. But in reality, they actually stop the eye from performing naturally, and this has a damaging effect on your natural vision.

How do Eye Exercises Work?

Eye exercises work by re-training and relaxing the core eye muscles on a daily basis, until 20/20 vision is achieved. They involve various focusing tasks to improve your “accommodation” skills (the strength and speed at which your eyes can focus on near and far objects). They also help reduce eye strain – especially when you are involved in near point tasks like computer work – and relax the facial and neck muscles to relieve referred tension.

Some people notice the results of eye exercises in just a few days. For others it takes a few weeks. How quickly you progress depends on your ability to follow instructions, stick to a daily eye exercise schedule, and reduce the amount of time you wear your normal glasses or contacts.

What is The Best Eye Exercise Program?

There are various eye exercise programs available online and in books, including:

· Rebuild Your Vision by Orlin Sorensen

· The Program for Better Vision by The Cambridge Institute

· The Bates Method by William H Bates

I personally found great success with Rebuild Your Vision, a 30-day program involving eight daily eye exercises and relaxation techniques. The course is very easy to understand and offers a no-nonsense approach to eye exercises that deliver real results. I experienced 1.00 dioptre of vision correction in a matter of weeks – which effectively cut my myopia prescription in half! Highly recommended.
