Herbal Treatments

Tumeric is a common herbal treatment for dark circles under eyes. Mix a small teaspoon of turmeric powder with 1 tbsp (teaspoon) of pineapple juice and apply this under your eyes for approximately 15 minutes.

A small amount of almond oil combined with oatmeal powder can be mixed and applied under the eyes. These items may be purchased at a local health food store and the mixture should be used at bedtime.

Rose water can lessen the appearance of dark circles. Dip two, small cotton balls in a small container with rose water and place then on your eyes for approximately three to five minutes each.

Combine lime and tomato juice in equal parts and make a mixture. Apply the mixture under the eyes for up to 30 to 40 minutes before washing with warm water and patting the area dry.

Use a plain water compress and apply to the skin under your eyes for up to 10 minutes. This should reduce any puffiness and minimize dark circles.

Dietary Treatment

Dehydration is a common cause of dark circles. Fluid intake is critical so 8 glasses of water several times a day can help the body maintain adequate fluid levels. He/she can make adjustments to your diet to help prevent/minimize dark circles.

It is important to maintain a diet rich in vitamins such as vitamin C which helps with tissue growth and repair. Also, it helps your body heal after accidents, injuries, and surgeries.

You should decrease your daily intake of alcohol and salt which can make the delicate area under the eyes appear puffy and dark.

By combining herbal medicine and dietary changes, dark circles can be eliminated with patience and time.
