Natural herbal energy drinks are considered the healthy alternative to conventional energy drinks. What makes regular energy drinks unsafe, and natural beverages, safe? Many of the popular energy drink brands have been selling energizing, yet somewhat dangerous beverages. They are generally very high in caffeine and refined sugars, with some sort of energizing blend, consisting of herbal extracts, nutrients, and artificially-produced ingredients such as taurine.

Beverages which are 100% natural, on the other hand, might just be the beneficial, safe energy drink, which many consumers have been interested in all along. People like energy drinks because they increase stamina, clarity, and they may even help you get through the day. A cup of coffee, tea, or even an herbal infusion, does just that, but many people are drawn to the carbonated, refreshing, and well-marketed energy drink. Natural products provide a healthier, and more sustainable option, for those who want the positive effects, without the negative repercussions.

Herbal Ingredients

What is in a natural energy drink? There are a handful of different brands offering a version of the sweet, exotic, carbonated product, made with natural, and sometimes only organic ingredients. Guru for example has created a line of natural, organic energy drinks. They are made without preservatives, artificial ingredients, or caffeine. They do use guaranine, which has a similar stimulating effect to caffeine, yet it is more sustainable. Pussy energy drink is completely natural, made from carbonated water, white grape juice, pressed limes, natural flavors, and an herbal blend. What are some of the herbs commonly found in natural energy drinks?

  • Guarana is a seed from the Amazon. It has several active phytochemicals, one of which is very similar to caffeine. This herb is useful for mental alertness and stamina.
  • Ginseng is one of the most popular adaptogen herbs. It tones the adrenal glands, helping the body cope with stress. It also enhances the immune system, supports lung functioning, and stimulates appetite.
  • Milk thistle is particularly beneficial for the liver. It is also good for the kidneys, and a weak immune system.
  • Gingko biloba promotes brain functioning through increasing cerebral circulation and tissue oxygenation.
  • Echinacea promotes white blood cell production. It is ideal for supporting immune health, fighting bacterial and viral infections, and reducing inflammation.
  • Sarsaparilla boosts energy, regulates hormones, and tones the nervous system.
  • Yerba mate stimulates and tones the nervous system. It cleanses the blood, suppresses the appetite, stimulates mental activity, and slows the aging process.

Natural beverages may also have ingredients such as green tea, nutrients, and fruit juices. If looking for a safe, healthy alternative, it is important to read the ingredient list. Make sure all of the contents add to well-being.

Safe for Whom?

Herbal stimulants may have a beneficial effect for most people most of the time, but in excess, they could put strain on the body, increasing blood pressure and heart rate. Conditions such as insomnia and anxiety could be aggravated. Young children, pregnant women, and people with heart problems may want to talk to a doctor before taking any energy supplement.
