There’s Nothing Like Home Baked Goodness

Nothing shows someone how much you care like sending them home baked goodness, especially during the holiday season. Cakes, cookies, pies and sweet candies, provide a cornucopia of flavor sensations.

What if you could provide this delectable goodness for those you love, in a more healthful way? Now, that would simply be heaven!

Pies: It is as Easy as…

When it comes to pie, it’s all about the crust. Flaky and flavorful, it is a fabulous gift to give.

Instead of a traditional pie, why not try a one crust pie…with the crust on top! Still flaky and fabulous, but with half the fat of a two crust pie, and a delicious and unique alternative!

Let Them Eat Cake!

I love baking cakes. Even better than baking them, I love giving them to people at the holidays.

To make my cakes a little less decadent, I use apple juice instead of oil in my recipes. If I am looking for a richer chocolaty flavor for my cakes, fat-free soy milk is just perfect.

I like to use egg whites instead of whole eggs and save the fat and carbs found in the egg yolk (although studies have shown the yolk to be beneficial in brain health).

Instead of frostings or icings, try a little powdered sugar, or chocolate shavings for appearances. Tastes fabulous and looks amazing too! If you absolutely must have cover on your cake…try fat free whipped creme. Simply delectable!

Less is Often More!

Instead of pies and cakes, bake mini tarts and mini cupcakes. These single serving delights are just perfect for family and friends trying to stick with a serving size. Coupled with the smart substitutions listed above and you’ve got a winning combination!

Try Some Trail Mix

Looking for something different to give from traditional candy? Why not try Tempting Trail Mix . You could even have your own holiday party and offer each guest the ability to make their own trail mix gift from the delicious goodies you provide! It’s fun, unique, and healthy holiday cheer.

Another plus is the ease of sending this delicious treat as a holiday gift. All you need is a decorative box, some colorful tissue paper, and you have scrumptious goodness all wrapped up with a bow!

It’s Not about the Fruit Cake!

Remember, you don’t have to send a fruit cake to spread holiday cheer. With these easy tips, you can share the joy of the season in a delicious, healthy way that your friends and family are sure to love.
