Fast food restaurants such as Burger King are often the last place people look for healthy and nutritious meal options. However, Burger King tries to change that preconceived notion by offering various items at different calorie and fat counts. Discover how many calories are in Burger King’s food so you can make the best decisions for you and your lifestyle.

Breakfast

Breakfast at Burger King includes various items from biscuits to pancakes, coffee to croissants and even French toast sticks and hash browns. With such an extensive list of tasty breakfast treats it is understandable that you may overlook your health while waiting in the drive-thru line for your morning coffee. The BK Ultimate Breakfast Platter contains scrambled eggs, sausage, three pancakes and a biscuit. While this may be the ultimate breakfast meal it is also the ultimate diet buster containing almost a day’s worth of recommended caloric intake at 1,310 with 72 grams of fat. Instead of spending all your calories on breakfast, try a large cup of joe and an order of cini-minis, French toast sticks or mini blueberry biscuits, all under 500 calories and 18 grams of fat.

Sandwiches

Burger King’s signature menu item, the Whopper, serves up a 1/4 pound beef patty topped with tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun. The Whopper will run you 670 calories and 40 grams of fat. If you’re looking for a lighter selection try the Whopper junior. The Whopper junior contains the same ingredients in smaller doses with nearly half the calories and fat at 340 calories and 19 grams of fat.

BK also has a full line of chicken sandwiches including the original chicken sandwich, tendercrisp, tendergrill and spicy chick’n crisp. The original chicken is a processed white meat chicken patty topped with lettuce and mayonnaise, ringing in at 630 calories and 39 grams of fat. The tendercrisp is a breaded white meat chicken fillet topped with lettuce, mayonnaise and tomatoes on a corn-dusted bun with 800 calories and 46 grams of fat. The other chicken sandwiches are the best options of the four. The spicy chick’n crisp contains 460 calories and 30 grams of fat and the tendergrill contains 470 calories with 18 grams of fat.

The menu also features two other sandwich options, the BK veggie and the BK big fish. The veggie burger features a garden veggie patty topped with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, pickles and onions. The BK veggie contains 410 calories and 16 grams of fat. The big fish sandwich is a breaded fish fillet topped with tartar sauce and lettuce on a corn-dusted bun. This sandwich contains 640 calories and 32 grams of fat.

Sides

Burger King offers various side items in addition to the fast food classic French fries. While a value-sized order of fries runs you 220 calories and 11 grams of fat and a large order runs you 540 calories and 27 grams of fat, you can also choose from onion rings, side salad, chicken tenders or chicken fries. A value-sized order of onion rings is 150 calories and 8 grams of fat while a large is 490 calories and 26 grams of fat. A four piece chicken tender rings in at 180 calories and 11 grams of fat while the six piece order rings in at 250 calories and 15 grams of fat. The healthiest of the BK side items is the side salad. The salad itself only contains 70 calories with just 3.5 grams of fat. Choose your dressing from ranch, fat-free ranch, light Italian, honey mustard or Caesar to add between 60 to 270 calories.
