Oils to Relieve Vaginal Dryness

Women can experience vaginal dryness at any age, but it is especially prevalent during and after menopause. The symptoms and complications of this dryness can be relieved by oils for vaginal dryness. Read on to learn about the different oils that can be utilized.

    A common problem for women during and after menopause is vaginal dryness, though a lack of vaginal lubrication can happen at any age. Vaginal dryness is a symptom of vaginal atrophy which is inflammation and thinning of the walls of the vagina, and is due to the lowering of estrogen. During this time, there might also be stinging and itching around the opening of the vagina and in the lower third of the vagina.

    Vaginal dryness is also common among postpartum women and those dealing with high levels of stress. Since vaginal dryness can make intercourse painful, it is often the reason for female sexual dysfunction. Women that lack vaginal lubrication often do not look forward to intercourse and as a end result, will avoid sex. A woman does not have to suffer from this since there are oils for vaginal dryness available to help.

    Oils for Vaginal Dryness

    There are both natural oils that you can use to help with vaginal dryness and there are also oils on the market blended with herbs to help lubrication. Almond oil is a great source of estrogen and almonds are also vitamin E enriched. You could add about twelve almonds to your daily diet to see if that helps. Additionally, almond oil can be applied on the vaginal walls to give external moisturizing along with vitamin E alone. Herbal oils can also be very helpful in providing lubrication.

    Another way to lubricate the vagina is to apply vitamin E oil in combination with black cohosh. Take six vitamin E capsules and squeeze the oil into a cup. Add five teaspoonfuls of black cohosh cream and blend. Apply this mixture to the inside and the outside of the vagina two to three times per day until you feel relief.

    Coconut and olive oils are both known for their moisturizing features. Place the oil on the vaginal outside entrance and just inside the edge. Both oils are recognized for their excellent aspects at being able to revitalize irritated, dry tissues and for keeping vaginal dryness away. Most pharmacies carry the cosmetic-grade olive oil that you need to look for. They should also carry the coconut oil which should be pure in form and without any additives or any other types of oils.

    How to Use Oil for Vaginal Dryness

    While using any of the above mentioned oils, put a large blob of the oil on your index fingertip about the size of a nickel. Start by utilizing the fingertip and spread both the outer and inner lips of the vulva spreading the oil as you go. Be sure that the part between the outer and lower lips and between the inner lips is lubricated. Next, beginning at the opening of the vagina, create an upward circular spiraling motion inside the vagina. Whenever needed, reapply to the area. You can in addition to or instead of applying to the vaginal area, lubricate the penis also.
