Bursitis

Bursitis is a spot on the body that has a dull, persistent ache that gets worse when moved. There may be redness and swelling, also. Bursitis is often referred to as “tennis elbow” or “frozen shoulder”. Bursitis is cause by an inflammation of small fluid filled sacs between the tendons and the bones called bursa. Bursa helps protect the bones and other tissues from grinding together. When the bursa becomes inflamed it can cause redness, swelling, pain, tenderness to the touch, heat in the area and limitation of motion.

Bursitis Prevention

• Avoid injuries as much as possible. Obviously, no one tries to get injured but if you have a history of this type of disease in your family it is wise to be a little extra cautious.

• Avoid repetitive motions as much as you can.

• Maintain at least a 50% raw food diet

• Avoid processed foods and any form of sugars

• Regular exercise can help prevent bursitis by keeping your muscles from becoming too tight.

• Vitamin supplements can help reduce your risk of flare ups. Calcium is important for the repair of connective tissues and it needs magnesium to balance it. Vitamin A is important for tissue repair and Vitamin E is an anti inflammatory free radical scavenger which will help keep toxins from building up in these areas. Vitamin C reduces inflammation.

Coping With Bursitis

• The most obvious solution during a flare up of bursitis is to put an ice pack on the affected area for about twenty minutes to reduce the inflammation.

• Gently massaging the area will help increase circulation

• Horsetail extract supplies silica which is needed for tissue repair and healing

• Rest the area as much as possible. Don’t overdo it while it is inflamed. Allow it the proper time to heal.

• Honey bee venom can be injected directly at the site of the pain.. The venom contains a strong anti inflammatory and can work quite quickly.
