What's Good About Having a Workout Buddy?
Some people do prefer to workout alone. There is nothing wrong with that. However, any established athlete or fitness guru will tell you that there are a lot of benefits that you get when having a buddy to train with. Exercise is an area that will take you a while to see results. It requires a lot of devotion and consistency to get these results. A workout buddy can help you with stay focused along the way.
The Fun Factor. The fun factor and enjoyment that you get out of exercise is what will keep you involved with it in the long run. Having a workout buddy there with you will bring much more humor to your workouts. With a good friend there to help you, working out will seem much less like a chore and more like a hobby.
Another Opinion. It would be even better if you had a workout buddy that knew more about fitness then you yourself. This could bring some expertise into your workouts and you could learn more along the way. They could prevent you from making some mistakes that you may have otherwise made.
Safety. Having a workout buddy also means having a spotter. This is especially important when you are maxing out your lifts. Everyone has probably dropped a weight or two before, having a spotter will help you in those tight situations. Also, they can help you perfect your form.
Good competition. Having a workout buddy is also a very effective way to keep you motivated. If your workout buddy is pushing you to do better, then you more then likely will do better. You will reach your goals faster.
Routine Differentiation. Changing up your workouts from time to time is what keeps your from getting burned out. Having a workout partner will naturally bring change to your normal workouts. It will also give you greater insight for future fitness plans.
A Friendship. Aside from having a buddy there when you are working out, it is also a good way to make friends. You can never have too many of those.
Having a workout buddy gives you a great advantage, but you need to consider that this person should be someone that you can tolerate on a daily basis. A person devoted to working out will more than likely exercise about 4-5 times weekly.
