Taking the Time You Need for a Better You
Getting a good cardio workout is tough when a busy schedule and a hectic family life make it almost impossible to find the time for yourself. However, fitting exercise into your schedule is necessary to maintain a healthy heart and a fit figure. With that in mind, consider making a few small changes to the things you already do in life and reap the rewards of your newfound exercise time.

Bike Instead of Drive
You have heard it before and it might seem impossible, but it doesn’t have to be a pipe dream. You may not be able to ride a bike to the office because it simply is not feasible, but you should be able to ride it to the local store and save some gas at the same time. If your kids have soccer practice, bring your bike along and ride around the park during practice. Even making a point to ride your bike to the end of the road and back after work to let off some extra steam can make a world of difference.

Get up at Lunch
Make your eating time quick so you can spend the rest of the time taking a walk. You might not have more than fifteen minutes to spare, but instead of reading a book or catching up on work you might be behind on, take this time for yourself. Not only will a quick walk revitalize you for the rest of the day, but it will help to clear your head so you don’t feel so much pressure when dealing with the rest of life.

Change up the Weekend
Make it a point to get some things done around the house that you have been meaning to do for quite some time. Create a list of three new things each week, such as digging up old plants, mowing the lawn, washing all of the cupboards in the kitchen, raking the leaves up or even giving the dog a bath. Any activity that gets you up and moving is the perfect way to get a good workout in without it even seeming like work at all. Don’t be afraid to trade chores with someone else in the house either. Let the kids take care of the trash over the weekend and take over their dog walking chore.

Use DVDs or Games
Let’s face it. You are tired at the end of the day whether you got a good cardio workout in or not. This means that you will probably be making plans to get some exercise tomorrow instead of tackling it that evening. However, the use of fun DVDs or games can really spruce up your evening and provide you with the workout you need. You can find DVDs for walking, belly dancing, hip hop dancing, step aerobics, and more both at your local stores and online. In addition, games for the Wii are a perfect way to get in shape. Some good choices are Dance Dance Revolution, Tennis, and the Wii Fit.
