Core Training Exercise

Many don’t realize how important a strong core can be. The core is like the trunk of a tree. The limbs of this “tree” are like our extremities – such as arms and legs. Every movement that we make involves our trunk. When you are walking, for instance, your back, abs and obliques are all involved in maintaining balance and stability. When we exercise, a lot of our strength comes from our core. Lifting heavy objects is easier if you keep the object closer to your stomach/core than if you hold it with your arms straight out. Training the core is essential to strength.

There are a few ways that you can increase the strength of your core. One way to do this is to use twisting movements during your workout. Try twisting your torso and putting your hands on your waist to see how involved your core is in this exercise. You can do this for five to ten minutes to really feel a burn. Alternatively, you can put a barbell above your head to use it for some resistance. This can be a great warm up and/or exercise.

Another core training exercise involves balancing activities. Stand on one foot for a minute or two and then alternate. You can make this exercise more difficult by standing on a towel, holding weight in one hand, closing your eyes, or moving your hands a lot. This will also work on strengthening your ankles.

Perhaps the most fun way to increase your core strength is to have more sex. It is an excellent core workout and there are a lot of variations of doing this. The movements involved strengthen pelvic stability, abdominal strength and even your legs. It is a full body workout – men can even pick up your spouse while having sex for some fun resistance! There are different levels of intensity and this is probably one of the best ways to be motivated to work out!

These core training exercises will start you on your way to having amazing core strength. Having a strong core will help you in many different areas, such as making daily activities easier. It can help alleviate back pain and your confidence and posture will improve.
