Foods to Eat on an Arthritis Diet

While we often hear about what foods we cannot eat when on a diet, we aren't always told what we are allowed to eat. Below are some great options for arthritis diet foods. Not only will these foods make you feel better, but they taste great, too!

    Fatty Fish

    Fatty fish such as salmon, sardines, herring, trout, anchovies, and pacific oysters are great arthritis diet foods because they contain omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are some of the healthiest fats available, and are effective in decreasing the inflammation associated with arthritis by decreasing specific enzymes that are known to erode cartilage. Omega-3 fatty acids aren't only effective in decreasing inflammation, however, they can also promote increases in strength, and decreases in fatigue, joint tenderness, stiffness, and pain. When choosing fatty fish containing these fatty acids, try to get them in their most natural state--that means either fresh or frozen but with no salt or other added preservatives.
